Local Adults and Teens Bring Beloved Story to Life in the musical BETWEEN THE LINES Church Hill Theatre | April 10–12 and April 17–19
Church Hill, MD — This spring, audiences are invited to step into a magical world where fairy tales collide with real life as Church Hill Theatre presents the musical Between the Lines for two weekends, April 10–12 and April 17–19.
Based on the novel by Jodi Picoult and Samantha van Leer, Between the Lines tells the story of Delilah, a teenage girl who finds comfort escaping into her favorite fairy tale. When the handsome prince inside the book begins speaking directly to her, Delilah discovers that the line between reality and fantasy might not be as solid as she thought.
This imaginative and heartwarming musical explores themes of identity, belonging, and the power of stories to shape our lives.
The production features a talented cast of adults and teens from across the local community, bringing together performers of all ages to create a vibrant theatrical experience. This large cast includes youth from across the mid-Shore, including Kent Island High School, Queen Anne’s County High School, Centreville Middle School, Stevensville Middle School, Kennard Elementary, Sudlersville Middle School, and Kent School. Adult and teen ensemble members bring both worlds to life, enriching Real Life scenes and adding energy, movement, and magic to the storybook world. Ensemble members include Claire Williams, Isabella McCauley, Ellie Wells, Christine Wells, David Rosa, Emily Ceruzzi, Addyson Crooks, Trevor Ayres, Grace Sutherland, Clara Geoffroy, Angelina Amalfitano, Cecilia Morris, Aubrey Anderson, Lana Cernak, and Gabby Pfeifer.
Delilah, the imaginative teenager at the center of the story, is played by Reese Ensor and Sarah Cannon, with Jules portrayed by Riley Rosati, Delilah’s mother by Heather Joyce-Byers and Maya McGrory, and the witty Ms. Winx by Tori Rosati. In the storybook world, Oliver, the questioning prince, is played by Russell Laing, joined by the playful Mermaids: Carly Mourlas, Grace Massoni, and Elaina Rosa; the dramatic Rapskullio by Rooney Rossti; the unpredictable Frump by Asher Rosa; and the charming Seraphima by Olivia Coppage.
Becca Van Aken, longtime lead instructor for CHT’s summer youth program Green Room Gang, directs the show following CHT’s wildly successful production of Footloose last April. Maya McGrory serves as Assistant Director, Erin Bradley as Music Director, and Gabby Pfeifer as Choreographer. Ginger Ellis serves as Producer and Youth Coordinator, and the rest of the production crew are CHT veterans excited to bring this story to life.
Audiences can expect a whimsical journey filled with humor, heartfelt moments, and a contemporary score that brings the pages of a fairy tale to life on stage.
