We are searching for the right person to lead our non-profit organization. We are looking for someone who is passionate about protecting our beautiful Chesapeake Bay and the natural treasures that make Queen Anne’s County special, and who desires to help make a difference. Having previous experience in leadership and environmental causes would be a big plus but is not essential. Enthusiasm and good people skills are the most important qualities. It is a voluntary, unpaid position. Hours, about 5-10 hours per week, are flexible to fit your schedule.
Plastic Free QAC has been around since 2018, and has had an important impact on our beloved county in the following ways:
- Community outreach—spreading awareness about the impact of single-use plastics through social media and an active website.
- Tabling at community events giving out free reusable shopping bags.
- Making speeches to various organizations about how to reduce micro-plastics in the environment and in our bodies.
- Working with high school and middle school students to bring awareness.
- Conducting monthly roadside clean-ups.
- Working with large organizations on Maryland General Assembly legislation.
- Shepherded legislation through the Centreville Town Council to eliminate single-use carry-out shopping bags in 2024 in our governing town.
- Saved 6 tons of plastic boat shrink wrap by getting it recycled two years in a row.
