Unity Church Hill Nursery is Hiring for a Nursery Production Associate:
Core Responsibilities
- Assist with nursery production including sowing, transplanting, potting up, and moving plants.
- Maintenance of plant material in healthy and saleable condition including weeding, fertilizing, pruning, staking, irrigation/watering, IPM and more.
- Monitor and help maintain appropriate growing environments for all greenhouses including heating, cooling, and ventilation.
- Monitor field nursery and greenhouses for pest and disease management. Implement sustainable pest management as needed.
- Monitor plant material for irrigation and nutrient needs.
- Record-keeping and inventory management.
- Pull plant material for retail/wholesale orders as needed.
- Assist retail nursery with restocking, customer service, and other duties as required.

- Assist with development and implementation of future growth of nursery production
- Perform other necessary duties as assigned by Unity management.
- Minimum 1 year previous experience in perennial or woody plant production in an outdoor setting in a wholesale or retail nursery.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team. Good communication. Ability to follow direction.
- Effective time-management skills, high attention to detail and strong ability to multi-task.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Most activities will be outside. Prepare to work in all temperatures. This job can involve standing on your feet all day, frequent bending over and possibly heavy lifting for extended periods of time. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Valid, clean drivers’ license. Ability to drive a skid steer, tractor, and/or front-end loader.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule depending on the season.
- Degree in Plant Science, Agriculture, Environmental Science or other horticultural field or commensurate experience.
- $20-25 per hour, commensurate with experience
- Part-time/Full-time. Some weekend work may be required. Flexible hours depending on season.
