Aquatics Director Opportunity
Horizons of Kent and Queen Anne's is seeking an Aquatics Director for its six-week summer program, running from June 24 through July 31.About Horizons
Horizons of Kent and Queen Anne's is a nonprofit organization serving under-resourced students in PreK through 8th grade across Kent and Queen Anne's counties. We provide six weeks of tuition-free academic and enrichment programming for students whose families might not otherwise be able to afford summer opportunities.Our mission is to make summer learning more equitable, help close the opportunity gap, and prevent the “summer slide”—the learning loss that disproportionately affects students in underserved communities and can perpetuate the cycle of poverty.
Program Overview
Horizons teaches all students to swim because it is both a life skill and a confidence-building experience. Our middle school students attend the program on the campus of Washington College each summer and represent a wide range of swimming abilities.We are looking for someone who will support our mission and strengthen the middle school swim program, with the long-term goal of helping students progress toward pre-lifeguard certification.
Schedule, Qualifications, and Compensation
- Swim lessons take place at the Washington College pool on Tuesdays and Fridays from 12:20 PM to 2:30 PM, June 26 through July 28.
- A background check and onboarding are required.
- Staff orientation will be held on June 22.
- Candidates must have experience teaching swimming, hold current lifeguard certification, and be both authoritative and kind in working with students.
- Compensation is a flat fee of $1,500, paid in two installments.
